Dr. Smt. Sucheta Chapekar is one of the most accomplished representatives of Bharata Natyam in today’s India. An artist of rare sensitivity and grace, her dancing career spans over a period of more than fifty years. She distinguished herself by her notable contribution to Bharata Natyam and received the very prestigious National Prize of the Sangeet Natak Akademi.
Sarah Vieira Magalhaes is a graduate of Dramatic Art, Portuguese Language and Literature. In 2008, she moved to India and since then she has been learning Bharat Natyam under the guidance of Dr. Sucheta Chapekar. She also earned a degree in Nritya Shastra from the Nalanda Dance Research Centre in Mumbai, and a Master in Philosophy from the University of Pune. She is currently researching the origin of Indian classical dance at the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute in Pune.
